This weekend I finally went to a place I’ve been wanting to go since I arrived. It’s the Birla Mandir in Jaipur, a hindu temple made entirely in white marble. This temple was made in the late 1980′s by the Birla group, which built several temples in India. It’s devoted to Lord Vishnu (Narayan) and Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. The curious part is that outside the temple, many historical characters and figures from all religions were carved in the white marble columns, including Socrates, Jesus Christ, Buddha and Confucius.
